Alpha Linolenic Acid Diclofenac Diethylamine Methyl Salicylate and Menthol Gel
Indication :
- 4Ache gel is indicated for relief of pain due to musculoskeletal disorders, sprains and strains, low back pain, bruises or sports injuries.
- It also relieves pain from rheumatoid arthritis and Osteoarthritis of peripheral joints and spinal column.
- It relieves muscle pain, reduces inflammation and speed up the natural healing process.
Mechanism of Action :
- Diclofenac is an analgesic drug which inhibits prostaglandin biosynthesis by inhibition of COX (cyclooxygenase) enzyme thus reduces pain and inflammation. It also inhibits phospholipase A2 activity to reduce the production of inflammatory leukotrienes.
- Alpha Linolenic Acid which has anti-inflammatory action, which improves blood circulation at the place of application.
- Methyl Salicylate provides counter-irritant action.
- Menthol enhances diclofenac absorption and provides cooling action.
Dosage and Administration :
Lower Extremities including the knee, ankles and feet : -
Apply the gel (4g) to the affected area 4 times daily. 4ache gel should be gently massaged into the skin ensuring application to the entire affected foot or knee or ankle. The entire foot includes the sole, top of the foot and the toes. Do not apply more than 16g daily to any one affected joint of the lower extremities.
Upper Extremities including the elbows, wrists and hands: -
Apply the gel (2g) to the affected area 4 times daily. 4ache gel should be gently massaged into the skin ensuring application to the entire affected hand or elbow or wrist. The entire hand includes the palm, back of the hands and the fingers. Do not apply more than 8g daily to any one affected joint of the upper extremities.
Total dose should not exceed 32g per day, over all affected joints.
Warning and Precautions :
Precautions should be taken if patients : -
- Are allergic to the active ingredients & any other drugs
- Have renal & hepatic impairment.
- Do not apply to open wounds or damaged skin. If symptoms persist for more than seven days discontinue use and consult physician.
- Shaving or bathing for at least 1 hour after application should be avoided.
- Wearing of clothing or gloves for at least 10 minutes after the application should be avoided.
- Avoid contact of gel with eyes & mucous membrane.
- Do not cover treated area with any bandage.
